OWNER & DIRECTOR
Megan Snyder is the proud Owner of Debut Dance and is passionate about sharing her love of dance with students of all ages and abilities. Shortly after receiving her B.A. in Dance from the University of Iowa, she opened Debut Dance in 2008. While at the University of Iowa, Ms. Megan spent three years on the nationally ranked Iowa Dance Team cheering on the Hawkeyes and competing at the UDA College National Competition. Ms. Megan has been providing dance instruction to children for more than 20 years and choreographing for the last 15 years. She enjoys teaching a variety of classes at Debut Dance, including both recreation and competitive classes… Jazz is her favorite! When Ms. Megan is not at the studio, she loves to spend time with her family! She is mother to three very energetic boys- Milo, Quincy and Bowen. You may even see them up on stage!
Piper Brady is very excited to be part of another exciting year of teaching and watching her students grow. In addition to teaching, Piper is a select member of Debut’s elite competitive dance team, Forte Company. She takes her dedication and love for dance to the next level by also being a part of Debut’s FORTE PRO competition team. Piper has been dancing for 15 years and competing for 13. She has competed in various states receiving many high points and special awards, including multiple scholarships. Piper is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, tap, acro, pointe, and pom. Piper was a member of West High Varsity Poms where she attended multiple national championships where they placed in the finals. Piper loves getting to help her students grow and share her love for dance. She is a senior at Iowa City West High School.
Abigail Bunch danced at Brekke Dance Center from the age of 4 until she graduated high school at 18. At her studio she competed for over 10 years in all styles of jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, musical theater, and tumbling. Miss Abby has also done Dance Masters of America pageants where she represented the midwest when she was 13 and again when she was 17. Throughout high school, Miss Abby was on her varsity high school dance team, varsity high school football cheer squad, and ran varsity track and field all four years of high school. Abby currently attends the University of Iowa, studying secondary education, and English. Miss Abby also is a third year member of the Iowa Dance Team. This will be Miss Abby’s second year here at Debut!
Jillian Canfield is from North Liberty, Iowa and has had a passion for dance ever since she was three. Miss Jillian was a member of the Forte Company for five years where she competed and won many awards during her dance career. She was also a dance assistant for four years. Growing up Miss Jillian trained in the styles of ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, tumbling, poms and hip hop. She enjoys teaching a variety of recreational classes. Miss Jillian graduated from the University of Iowa in 2019 majoring in Elementary Education. Currently, Miss Jillian is an Online Learning Program Kindergarten teacher in the mornings, and an in person Fourth Grade teacher in the afternoons in the Iowa City Community School District. Her love for children transfers perfectly to the studio as a veteran instructor of dance. This is Miss Jillian’s seventh year teaching at Debut Dance.
Konstanze Crile grew up in North Liberty, Iowa. She started dancing at Debut when she was seven years old. She is a 10th year member of Forte Company, as well as a 2nd year member of Debut’s elite competition group, FORTE PRO. Throughout her dance career, she has attended many competitions and conventions and has received many high point awards as well as scholarships. In her staff role, she was a Jr. Instructor for five years, training directly under Ms. Megan. Miss Konstanze is skilled in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and loves to choreograph! She is very excited to work with Debut Dance’s Forte Performance and Company programs and share her love for dance with all of the Debut dancers. She is currently a Senior at Liberty High School
Alannah DiBerardino has been dancing since she was 5 years old. Miss Alannah danced at Dancing With Celeste in Sioux City, IA. She competed in many styles of dance including jazz, lyrical, tap, and tumbling. Throughout high school, Alannah was on her high school varsity dance team and involved with the national honor society and environmental club. She graduated from East High School in 2019. Alannah currently attends the University of Iowa where she is studying therapeutic recreation and human relations with hopes of attending occupational therapy school after her four years at Iowa. Miss Alannah is a second year member on the Iowa Dance Team. Alannah loves to help others and is excited to start teaching and working with the wonderful kids at Debut Dance!
Kayla Drow first walked into a dance studio at age 7 and fell in love! Growing up a studio dancer in the Chicago Suburbs her passion for dance continued to grow as she trained with different local and national instructors in various styles including ballet, contemporary, jazz, and hip hop. She spent 11 years training both in the studio and by attending numerous conventions every year. Kayla has also competed both regionally and nationally as a soloist and in groups at the elite level with multiple first place awards and titles.
Twice Kayla has traveled to Los Angeles to train with MusEffect under the direction of Jessica Starr. This allowed her to learn more about living as a professional dancer and take classes at the top studios in LA.
In high school, in addition to studio, Kayla was a 4 year Varsity Dance Team member and two year Captain and Choreographer for State Finalist Waubonsie Valley High School. She is a recent graduate from the University of Iowa where she studied Business Marketing and Event Management. She was a 4 year member of the nationally ranked University of Iowa Dance Team. In the summer she works as an instructor for UDA traveling the country to share her love of dance with high school and collegiate dancers. Kayla is now the head coach for Iowa City West High Dance Team.
Dance holds a big piece of Kayla’s heart and she is so excited to share that love and knowledge with dancers at Debut!
Diane Fickel not only is the office manager at Debut Dance, but is also Ms. Megan’s mom! Diane has been part of the Debut family since the studio opened in 2008 and loves watching the dancers perform in and outside of dance class. Diane teaches business at West High School in Iowa City and devotes her free time to spending time with her five grandchildren. Diane is always available to help answer any of your financial questions!
Amelia Fisher has been dancing at Debut since 2013 and in total 12 years. She's an active part of the Forte Company competition team. She's going to be a senior at Solon Highschool. She loves teaching dance classes, photography and her australian shepherd Tucker.
Ellie Grimm was born in North Liberty, Iowa. She has been dancing at Debut Dance since the age of six and is a 10th year member of Forte Company. Miss Ellie is also a part of the Forte Pro team. Miss Ellie trains in all dance styles including jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, hip hop, Contemporary, pointe, musical theater, and pom. Miss Ellie has attended many dance competitions and conventions in and out of Iowa where she has received many awards and scholarships. She was part of the Liberty High School Dance team her freshman and sophomore years. Her team brought home 8th and 9th at UDA nationals. Ellie is a senior at Iowa City Liberty High School. This summer, Miss Ellie participated in a 3 week Commercial Dance Intensive with the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She can’t wait to share her passion for dance with you all.
Isabelle Kafer has grown up in North Liberty, Iowa. She has been a part of Debut’s Forte Company team for 7 years now. She also is a part of Debut’s Forte Pro team. She trains in ballet, jazz, hip hop, contemporary, tumbling, tap, pointe, and lyrical. This past competition season Ms. Isabelle received various awards including, regional titles, first overalls, many Break The Floor scholarships, taking first at grand nationals, and making it to finals at TOP nationals in Kansas City. Ms. Isabelle’s love for dance continues to grow and she cannot wait to share her passion with many young kids!
Lara Kounkel has been dancing since the age of 3. She is a 2nd year member of the FORTE PRO team and is very excited to begin her 6th year on the Forte Company team. She has grown up in North Liberty and will be a junior at Clear Creek Amana High School. She practices in various styles including lyrical, contemporary, jazz, tumbling, pointe, ballet, musical theatre, tap, and hip hop. Throughout her dance career she has earned several awards as well as scholarships at conventions and competitions. She is excited to share her passion with the young dancers! In the upcoming years she plans to pursue dance through college and continue to teach dance. Miss Lara is eager to be a first year staff member and can’t wait to help Debut’s young dancers learn and grow!
Rachel Meyer is the receptionist at Debut Dance along with Ms. Diane. Rachel has loved getting to know the families and outstanding staff. Rachel is from Iowa City and is currently a senior at the University of Iowa where she is studying art. She loves utilizing her creativity at the studio and helping out where needed. Outside the studio, Rachel loves spending time with her friends and family and going out to eat. She is really looking forward to another great year at Debut Dance!
Chloe Ortiz has been a student at Debut Dance for 11 years and on the Forte Competition team for 7. Chloe is also a member of the accelerated group at Debut, FORTE PRO. Since FORTE PRO competes at conventions, Chloe is very excited to be a part of this group because conventions are one of her favorite things to do as a dancer! This will be Chloe’s fourth year as an instructor at Debut where she will be teaching forte performance. Chloe attends Solon High School! Once she graduates she wants to follow Ms. Megan’s footsteps and open her own studio some day!
Ariana Parsons is going into her third year on Forte Company as well as her second year on Debut’s FORTE PRO Elite Competitive Team. She is very excited to be on the team to not only learn more about the dance world ,but to also grow her love of dance. Ariana has been dancing for 15 years and has been on a competitive team for 13 years. This will be her second year teaching at Debut. She is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, tap and pointe. Ariana is a senior in high school attending Mid-Prairie Homeschool Education Center. She is so excited for another great year at Debut!
Brittlyn Taylor is from Waukee, Iowa and has been dancing and tumbling since the age of 2. She competed for Charlee’s Elite School of Dance Elite Edge competition team for 11 years. Brittlyn has trained in ballet, pointe, contemporary, lyrical, jazz, jazz funk, modern, hip hop, tumbling and gymnastics. Brittlyn competed in many regional and national competitions over the years earning consistent high point finishes, title distinctions, and national honors, including national high point finishes and winning 3 national solo championships. Brittlyn was an instructor for 3 years while at Charlee’s Elite School of Dance teaching both dance and tumbling classes. Brittlyn also attended many conventions and has been awarded numerous scholarships and had the great opportunity to work with and assist many professional dancers and choreographers throughout the years. In addition to studio dance, Brittlyn was also a member of the Waukee High School Varsity Dance Team. Brittlyn is currently attending the University of Iowa double majoring in Dance and Sports & Recreation Management. She loves continuing her dance journey as a dance major and as a member of the University of Iowa Dance Team. Brittlyn hopes to dance professionally and pursue both choreography and dance education after college. She is super excited to be an instructor at Debut Dance!!
Bri Vogel grew up in Quincy, Illinois, where she started dance classes at the age of 3. She danced at QDance and was a member of the Elite competition group for 6 years. Bri was also a member of the Quincy Senior High School Pom team from 2015-2019. She was captain of the team her senior year, leading the squad to a state championship. Bri is currently a third-year student pursuing a BA in Dance and a BA in Psychology at the University of Iowa, and she plans to graduate in the spring of 2022. During the 2020-2021 season she was a member of the UI Dance Company, performing in both a virtual concert and a live tour. Bri is so excited to be a part of the Debut Dance family!
