OWNER & DIRECTOR
Megan Snyder is the proud Owner of Debut Dance and is passionate about sharing her love of dance with students of all ages and abilities. Shortly after receiving her B.A. in Dance from the University of Iowa, she opened Debut Dance in 2008. While at the University of Iowa, Ms. Megan spent three years on the nationally ranked Iowa Dance Team cheering on the Hawkeyes and competing at the UDA College National Competition. Ms. Megan has been providing dance instruction to children for more than 20 years and choreographing for the last 15 years. She enjoys teaching a variety of classes at Debut Dance, including both recreation and competitive classes… Jazz is her favorite! When Ms. Megan is not at the studio, she loves to spend time with her family! She is mother to three very energetic boys- Milo, Quincy and Bowen. You may even see them up on stage!
Diane Fickel not only is the office manager at Debut Dance, but is also Ms. Megan’s mom! Diane has been part of the Debut family since the studio opened in 2008 and loves watching the dancers perform in and outside of dance class. Diane teaches business at West High School in Iowa City and devotes her free time to spending time with her five grandchildren. Diane is always available to help answer any of your financial questions!
Kathleen Fallon plays a major leadership role at the studio as the Forte Director. Miss Kathleen shares her passion and competitive knowledge with the dancers on our competition teams and works closely with the Company dancers. She has implemented the Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT) into core Company classes and is excited to launch a new team called Company Pro. As Forte Director, Miss Kathleen has received numerous choreography awards and high point awards when her dancers have competed at various regional competitions around the Midwest. Miss Kathleen grew up in West Des Moines studying all styles of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, pointe, hip hop, lyrical, contemporary, modern, musical theatre and tumbling. She has received numerous titles and scholarships from local and national dance competitions. In high school, Miss Kathleen danced on Valley’s Varsity Dance team for four years and was captain her senior year. Miss Kathleen recently graduated from the University of Iowa studying both Dance and Business Management.
Jenny Gomez plays an important role in teaching and choreographing for Forte Company. Miss Jenny is from Davenport, IA and started dancing at the age of seven years old. Growing up, Miss Jenny trained in the styles of tap, jazz, ballet, lyrical, pom, hip hop, acro, and pointe. Miss Jenny was a participant on her studio’s parade team and competition team. Miss Jenny attended many conventions and competitions where she received a variety of group and solo awards. In high school, Miss Jenny was a four-year member of the Davenport West Dance Team and competed at state and national competitions. Miss Jenny has also been able to dance in a Disney World parade and perform as the opening act for the Radio City Rockettes Christmas Spectacular. Currently, Miss Jenny is a 4th grade teacher in the Iowa City Community School District.
Jillian Haas is from North Liberty, Iowa and has had a passion for dance ever since she was three. Miss Jillian was a member of the Forte Company for five years where she competed and won many awards during her dance career. She was also a dance assistant for four years. Growing up Miss Jillian trained in the styles of ballet, pointe, jazz, tap, lyrical, modern, tumbling, poms and hip hop. She enjoys teaching a variety of recreational classes. Miss Jillian graduated from the University of Iowa majoring in Elementary Education. Her love for children transfers perfectly to the studio as a veteran instructor of dance. This is Miss Jillian’s sixth year teaching at Debut Dance.
Ariana Parsons is a member of Forte Company as well as Debut’s FORTE PRO Elite Competitive Team. She is very excited to be on the team to not only learn more about the dance world but to also grow her love of dance. Ariana has been dancing for 14 years and has been on a competitive team for 12 years. She is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, tap and pointe. Ariana will be teaching Kinder Combo Ballet/Tap as well as Hip Hop 2 at Debut. Ariana attends Mid-Prairie Homeschool Education Center. Ariana is so excited for another great year at Debut!
Ellie Grimm was born in North Liberty, Iowa. She has been dancing at Debut Dance since the age of six and is a member of Forte Company. Miss Ellie trains in all dance styles including jazz, ballet, tap, lyrical, hip hop, Contemporary, pointe, musical theater, and pom. Miss Ellie has attended many dance competitions and conventions in and out of Iowa where she has received many awards and scholarships. She was part of the Liberty High School Dance team her freshman and sophomore years. Her team brought home 8th and 9th at UDA nationals. Ellie attends Liberty High School. She can’t wait to share her passion for dance with you all.
Kaitlyn Rogers grew up in Davenport, Iowa where she was a competition dancer for eight years at Expressions of the Quad Cities Dance Academy. In addition, she was also on her high school’s varsity dance team for three years. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 2018. Her freshman year of college she was a member of the Minnesota State University Dance Team and competed at UDA Nationals where they were named 2019 Pom Champions. Now she attends the University of Iowa where she is working toward degrees in Health and Human Physiology and Dance. Miss Kaitlyn’s also working towards certifications in Personal Training and Corrective Exercise. In addition, she works as a retail specialist for Platinum National Dance Competition. Miss Kaitlyn will be working with dancers in Forte Performance and Forte Company, as well as Sparkle Squad and Combo Classes. She is excited to join and share her passion for dance with the Debut Dance family.
Emma Smigel is native to North Liberty and started dancing when she was 3 years old. Miss Emma is a member of Debut’s Elite Competition Team, Forte Company. This fall, Miss Emma will also be part of Debut’s newest competition group, FORTE PRO. Along with taking class in all styles of dance, Miss Emma has been a dance assistant. She is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, tap, pointe, musical theater, hip hop and pom. Throughout her dance career, she has attended many competitions and conventions in and out of state and has also received many scholarships and awards including the opportunity to attend the Talent on Parade competition’s GoPro workshop in Branson, Missouri, along with being selected to be a part of Celebrity Dance Competitions 2019 Senior Crew. Miss Emma is very excited to share her love and passion for dance and to be able to work with young dancers including Debut Dance’s Performance level.
Konstanze Crile grew up in North Liberty, Iowa. She started dancing at Debut when she was seven years old. She is a member of Forte Company. This fall, Miss Konstanze will also be a part of Debut’s newest competition group, FORTE PRO. Throughout her dance career, she has attended many competitions and conventions and has received many high point awards as well as scholarships. In her staff role, she was a Jr. Instructor for five years, training directly under Ms. Megan. Miss Konstanze is skilled in ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, hip hop, and loves to choreograph! She is very excited to work with Debut Dance’s Forte Performance program and share her love for dance with all of the Debut dancers. She is currently attends Liberty High School.
Shelby Moquin is originally from Wisconsin and has loved dancing since she was very young. She is a member of the Forte Competition Team. Miss Shelby also helps run Debut Dance’s Instagram and Facebook accounts as well as the studio’s Youtube channel. You can often find her around the studio with her camera! Miss Shelby will be teaching some of the KinderCombo classes this fall as well as the Mini Forte group. Outside of the studio Shelby loves reading, writing, and photography and is currently the editor of her high school’s newspaper and is a finalist for the IHSPA Emerging Journalist Award. After high school she hopes to leave Iowa and pursue her dreams of becoming a journalist! She can’t wait for another great year at Debut Dance!
Rachel Meyer is the receptionist at Debut Dance along with Ms. Diane. Rachel has loved getting to know the families and outstanding staff. Rachel is from Iowa City and is currently a senior at the University of Iowa where she is studying art. She loves utilizing her creativity at the studio and helping out where needed. Outside the studio, Rachel loves spending time with her friends and family and going out to eat. She is really looking forward to another great year at Debut Dance!
Piper Brady is very excited to be part of another exciting year of teaching and watching her students grow. In addition to teaching, Piper is a select member of Debut’s elite competitive dance team, Forte Company. This year she is taking her dedication and love for dance to the next level by also being a part of Debut’s new FORTE PRO competition team. Piper has been dancing for 14 years and competing for 12. She has competed in various states receiving many high points and special awards. Piper is trained in ballet, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, tap, pointe, and pom. Piper was a member of West High Varsity Poms where she attended multiple national championships where they placed in the finals. Piper loves getting to help her students grow and share her love for dance. She attends Iowa City West High School.
Chloe Ortiz has been a student at Debut Dance and on the Forte Competition Team. Chloe will be a member of the new accelerated group at Debut this year, FORTE PRO. SInce FORTE PRO will be competing at conventions, Chloe is very excited to be a part of this group because conventions are one of her favorite things to do as a dancer! This will be Chloe’s third year as an instructor at Debut where she will be teaching Sparkle Squad. Chloe attends Solon High School! Once she graduates she wants to follow Ms. Megan’s footsteps and open her own studio some day!
Amelia Fisher is the substitute teacher here at Debut Dance. Amelia attends Solon High School and is part of the Varsity Dance Team there. Amelia has been dancing for 11 years and has been a part of the Forte Competition Team. She loves tap, hiphop, and contemporary styles of dance. One of her favorite things about teaching is being able to spread her love and knowledge of dance. When she’s not at dance she’s spending time with photography or music. She plays the guitar, ukulele, clarinet and the oboe.
Abigail Bunch danced at Brekke Dance Center from the age of 4 until she graduated high school at 18. At her studio she competed for over 10 years in all styles of jazz, lyrical, tap, contemporary, musical theater, and tumbling. Miss Abby has also done Dance Masters of America pageants where she represented the midwest when she was 13 and again when she was 17. Throughout high school, Miss Abby was on her varsity high school dance team, varsity high school football cheer squad, and ran varsity track and field all four years of high school. Abby currently attends the University of Iowa, studying secondary education, and English. Miss Abby also is a second year member of the Iowa Dance Team. Abby is very excited to start working with the amazing kids at Debut Dance!
